La Paz

It’s been an exciting 10 days since out last post. we finally got out Monday around noon, complete with passports & drivers license. We made a stop in San Diego for some screws, & some charts, stayed overnite in National City. We left in the morning for the border & got in the nothing to declare line, big mistake. When they finally herded us to where they wanted us, then it was show proof of what we had & why we were trying to skip paying duty & tax. They could only see $1000 worth of engine parts & wanted $160 US dollars. After a 15 minute argument & showing our TIP for the boat, we were allowed passage n/c. then we were not in the line we were used to from prior crossings & got into Tijuana central. Lots of fun towing on unknown streets not nowing where to go. I think Coye was about to share with me where I should go but Caesar kept the peace & eventually we got on the toll road to Ensenada, our next stopping point, planning on getting our Visa’s there at the Harbor Masters office as we have done in the past. Woops big mistake we were rather impolitely told that we should have stopped an hour back at Tecate & we were now very illegals. He said the only time we could get them in Ensenada was when we were coming by boat. Dah I explained that was the only way we had been there before. Finally Caesar made friends with the gal collecting the money so we were allowed to pay & pass on.

We had been unable to get room for the next night in Guerro Negro, so asked the hotel that night if they could help. They were able to get us a room, which was good as the roads were very much up & down & very winding, much of it at under 30 mph. A long day to get there, then were unable to find the hotel, the Desert Inn. After an hour in a small town of only 15000 people & stopping at 3 different gas stations for directions, we gave up & stopped near where we thought it should be, in front of the Halfway House Inn. Turns out they changed their name about 2 weeks prior, we were the only guests, only ones at the bar, only ones for dinner that night, but a very nice place.

The picture you see here is the new one getting ready for his first attempt at his Captains License.

We hope to have our own internet access over the weekend & i will update the rest of the trip

Soon to depart

We soon will leave Bullhead City, the last 30 days have been hectic, getting moved from the house & into a truck & car, begging for a room to stay in. We finally got everything out of the house on 8/16. The tenants moved in a couple of days before, so we were sharing the garage. Prior to that we had made a run to Coye’s brother’s Dick & Shirley Duesberg who live in New Harmony Utah. We took a truck load of stuff to them, after many trips to Goodwill & having St. Vincent pickup 3 loads. While emptying the garage, & getting shelves from along the wall, we met another set of tenants. Termites had decided it was a cool place for the summer so they moved in uninvited. Bug Emergency came over & told them to leave, then randomly slaughtered them all. Poor things.
In the midst of all this I applied for a new Canadian passport, Walgreens took pictures, & off went the app. To make a long story short, they didn’t accept the pictures, I ended up driving to Kingman, Lake Havasu, & finally Las Vegas before getting acceptable pictures. Then the process starts again, well we hurried up & waited, thinking we were ready to go on 8/18, the passport finally arrived the day before, however Coye decided to get some primateen before we left & had to produce her drivers license. They shared the fact that it expires next month. That meant we need to wait until Monday for her to go to the DMV & get a new one. Fortunately our friends Lynn & George are entertaining us for the weekend. We also get to get together for dinner with other friends, Susan & Linda.
I put some pictures in of us allmost ready to leave, looks like the Klampets on the move!
